Excerpt from the artist's
lecture:
"I performed this installation at a major art museum in Paris while the city was experiencing record high temperatures. Everyone was talking about global warming, and the heat was killing people literally by the thousands all over France. So, there was some concern about getting this ski mask past the security guard bag check, considering the temperature outside.
This installation specifically happened at the Department of Decorative Arts at the museum. After I completed the work, I hid underneath Napoleon’s bed which was in the same gallery. Looking from underneath the bed I watched the security guards close off the area. They were out-of-their-mind’s. They couldn't figure out how it was done. They started taking their own photos of the work. Eventually they had to take the entire glass casing apart." Æ |
